In-House Airflow Test Chamber Capabilities
Customer Demand for Technical Services Drives Development
St. Louis: LWSupply has announced
the development of an in-house airflow chamber test capability in the St. Louis
metropolitan area for the analysis of thermal management characteristics in electronic
designs. Using LWSupply's own technical staff, an AMCA 210-85 compliant test
chamber was recently designed and built. As customer product development cycles
decrease demands on the packaging engineer are increasing. More and more electronics
are compressed into smaller and smaller boxes. These boxes also run hotter
and hotter. Some customers have turned to software for assistance, only to
find that the data required to "run" a simulation is enormous, sometimes taking
days to compile. "Here at LWSupply we can install a mockup or a prototype
in series with our test chamber and in a couple of hours we can provide the customer
with an accurate system impedance curve, find out the actual airflow required to
cool a load, or run a series of fan efficiency tests to help a customer select a
single fan design from a group of potential suppliers for use in their products."
